The iKitchen Story

When we researched the DIY kitchen market in New Zealand and compared it against what was available for the same price in the European market five years or so ago, we were astonished. What we found was a local market offering poor quality and somewhat homogeneous products, at anything but competitive prices. The so-called chain stores were building several layers of overhead costs into what was essentially, an inferior market offering. Despite the fact that Kiwis have a predisposition for doing it ourselves, there was very little to choose from. We identified a yarning gap in the market which presented us, with a business opportunity.

iKitchen, the intelligent kitchen option for the DIY-er, was founded upon a clear vision and commitment to challenging the status quo. Our focus is the Kiwi DIY-er capable of doing the basics, like measuring their existing kitchen space and coming-up with a basic design.

We’ve sourced and invested in, the best and broadest range of globally available kitchen products. We’re not interested in becoming a large chain store so to pare costs to the bone, we’re supplying our kitchens online. We’re continually refining our processes to ensure the customer experience of designing and buying online, is a positive one.

Compliance with International E1 Standards

The E-1 Formaldehyde Emission Standard was created by the European Union in Brussels and, is the most stringent furniture manufacturing rating system in the world. 

The system assigns a rating of E-1 to E-5. This relates to the source of base materials and the degree of chemicals and dangerous Formaldehyde off-gassing produced during the manufacturing process. E-1 is the best rating with zero off-gassing while a rating of E-5 is the worst, with significant off-gassing. 

All iKitchens adhere to the highest E-1 standard with zero Formaldehyde off-gassing. This ensures minimal impact on both your home and our, outdoor environment.
